Everyone is always talking about self care…right? Well, there’s a reason! It took me a while to figure this out BUT self care is crucial to our well being. If you’re like me, you might think “who has time for self care, I have a household to run, kids to take care, laundry to do…” I get it, trust me. So here are some self care ideas that you can do AT HOME! Because let’s be real…those “weekend getaway”, “spa day” may sound nice but our budget may say otherwise 😆

Self Care Ideas you can do en LA CASA

  1. Take a relaxing bath or shower
  2. Practice yoga or meditation
  3. Read a book or watch a movie
  4. Listen to calming music or a podcast
  5. Write in a journal or practice gratitude
  6. Take a nap or practice good sleep practices
  7. Cook a healthy meal or try a new recipe
  8. Declutter or organize your living space
  9. Practice deep breathing or progressive muscle relaxation
  10. Take a walk or get a workout in
  11. Try a new hobby or creative activity
  12. Connect with loved ones via phone or FaceTime
  13. Take a break from El TikTok and other social media
  14. Practice mindfulness or self-compassion
  15. Treat yourself to a favorite snack or beverage
  16. Smudge – white sage, palo santo, copal, whatever you prefer
  17. Do a puzzle or play a game
  18. Learn a new skill – the internet is full of free tutorials
  19. Practice self-massage or reflexology
  20. Do a digital detox or screen-free day
  21. Practice positive affirmations or visualization
  22. Engage in a self-care ritual or routine
  23. Spend time in nature or with pets
  24. Garden or plant an herb garden in your windowsill if you have limited space
  25. Set boundaries or practice saying no to avoid burnout.

IMO, #25 is a WINNER. Setting boundaries is an incredible way to practice self care because it changes what you allow in your life therefore reducing stress and anxiety. But I love them all. As a busy mom, making time for these things is hard but I’m such a better mother and wife when I feel like I have more to give.

So Why is Self Care So Important?

Self-care is important because it helps to maintain physical, emotional, and mental well-being. It is a way of taking care of yourself, particularly during stressful or challenging times. Engaging in activities that promote self-care can help to reduce stress, improve mood, and increase overall health and happiness. Additionally, self-care can lead to increased productivity and better relationships with others. Taking even small steps towards self-care can have a big impact on one’s overall quality of life!

How can self care impact your mental health

Self-care practices have a significant impact on our mental health. When we prioritize self-care, we can reduce stress, improve our mood, increase our self-esteem, and promote overall well-being. Engaging in activities such as exercise, meditation, spending time with loved ones, and getting enough sleep can all contribute to a healthier mental state. By taking care of ourselves physically and emotionally, we can better cope with life’s challenges and maintain a more positive outlook on life.

What are some self care ideas you can practice spiritually

There are many ways to practice self-care spiritually, including meditation, yoga, prayer, spending time in nature, journaling, connecting with a community of like-minded individuals, engaging in acts of kindness and compassion, practicing gratitude, and setting aside regular time for self-reflection and introspection. It’s important to find the practices that resonate with you personally and to incorporate them into your daily routine to promote overall well-being and spiritual growth.

One of my favorite ways to practice self care is to light a stick of palo santo and meditate for as little as 5 minutes before bed – it’s such a great way for me to unwind, increase my positive energy, and sit in quiet.
